Happy Halloween

I know it's a day late but to be honest with you, our decorations don't really come to life (oooh spooky!) until the night of. Less spooky meaning? There's a lot of things we don't put up until Halloween day because, call me crazy, but red porch lights for days or even weeks would drive.me.to.the.edge.
Another thing we wait until the last minute to do?
This!
What is this, you ask? Why it's a giant projection of Night of the Living Dead onto the front windows of the house. We've been doing this each year since we moved in and it's usually a pretty big hit...with the adults. I mean, the kids comment on it if we're showing something like Coraline (last year) but mostly it's just the dads asking, "How'd you do that?"
What does it look like from outside?
Like this!
Lemme give you a run down of every ghoul and goblin you see here.
Upstairs, we put red lights in all of the windows for an extra creepy look. Ooohhh!

Over to the right is our homemade Grim Reaper complete with scythe made out of an old tree limb that you can't really see here. It's creepy, trust me.

Next to him we've got the world's tiniest cemetery. Complete with two of the same tombstone (this was all they had at Target when I bought them for 75% off last year). I filled in the letters on the right one with sheetrock mud and then spray painted over it. Next year maybe I'll write something on it.

You can also kind of see what the projection looks like from inside. At this point in the evening, we had moved on to episodes of The Twilight Zone. Although, I couldn't find what I think is the scariest episode, The Hunt.

And finally, this creepy mess of spider webs to keep curious kiddos from walking over to the Grim Reaper. We took tree branches that had fallen after a recent windy day, spray painted them black, secured them with wire to pieces of our old radiators (they're like four feet long screws, rebar would work, too) and covered them with webs.

The little Frankenstein and ghost lanterns on the porch are from this tutorial. Highly recommend it! Totally easy and I use them every year.

and our make shift spotlights on the ground are just c9 Christmas lights inside of cut in half soda cans.

Hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween!

And if anyone's reading this from the East coast, we're thinking of you and we hope you're all warm and safe, too!

Oh, also! We had a dismal trick or treat turnout and we have about a ton of candy that we really don't need. Anybody know of a way to send it to the troops? Thanks!
